I am Zixi Guo. I graduated with a combined major in Criminal Justice and Psychology from Northeastern University. During my undergraduate studies, I worked as a research assistant in the Corrections and Reentry Lab in NEU, where I assisted interviews and participated in qualitative data analysis for a project led by Dr.Natasha Frost. Such experience deepened my understanding of systemic issues in correctional institutions and sparked my interest in research-driven approaches to justice reform. Beyond academics, I also completed a co-op as a hospital security officer at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, which enhanced my practical understanding of crisis intervention and public safety.
Growing up in China, a country with a different criminal justice system, I developed a strong interest in understanding why people commit crimes — particularly how sociocultural factors influence criminal behavior — and in exploring how criminological theories and approaches differ across cultures. I hope to bring my practical experience and cross-cultural insights to the graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania while continuing to learn from leading scholars in the field.
