Rachel Germany

Rachel Germany is a master’s student from Brooklyn, NY. She is interested in implicit and explicit bias in the criminal legal system, police violence, juvenile justice, mass incarceration, and recidivism. During law school she interned at the Brooklyn Legal Aid Society and developed and implemented Know Your Rights trainings throughout the city.

After law school, Rachel helped death-sentenced and juvenile life-without-parole clients appeal their sentences in Alabama, North Carolina, and Florida. Wanting to work directly with young people, Rachel became a high school teacher in Brooklyn where she happily taught Criminal Law to smart and talented 11th graders before leaving them to join Penn’s Criminology program. Rachel has a BA in Political Science from Yale, a JD from NYU Law, and an MA from Columbia University, Teachers College. She lives in Brooklyn, NY.
