Miranda Cochran

Miranda Cochran is a student in the MS in Criminology program at the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Psychology and a minor in Law & Society in May 2025. As an undergraduate, Miranda completed two honors theses: one in Criminology examining disciplinary outcomes in police use-of-force complaints, and one in Psychology exploring how early adversity and threat exposure affect emotion recognition in preschool-aged children. She was involved as a peer counselor with Penn Benjamins to support student mental health and gained research experience as a member of Dr. Rebecca Waller’s EDEN Lab. Miranda is currently a research assistant at the Crime and Justice Policy Lab and volunteers with the Petey Greene Program. Her research interests include police accountability, restorative justice, and the developmental pathways that lead to antisocial behavior. She is especially interested in using interdisciplinary methods to inform public policy and drive meaningful reform. In her free time, Miranda enjoys weightlifting, traveling, reading, and playing video games.
