Geonhee Kim graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Law, Society, and Justice. During his undergraduate studies, he actively participated in legal research, volunteered at public schools, and engaged in educational mentoring programs. He also served as a student assistant for the Child Safety Committee in Korea, where he contributed to a variety of public policy initiatives related to child welfare and safety. These experiences not only deepened his understanding of how legal systems and policies influence vulnerable populations, but also sparked a long-term interest in crime prevention and social justice.
His growing interest in the criminal justice system led him to pursue a Master of Science in Criminology at the University of Pennsylvania. He is particularly interested in understanding how crime affects society and in exploring proactive approaches to prevent spontaneous and situational offenses beyond reactive responses through investigation and technology. Through the program, he hopes to gain the academic foundation and practical insight needed to promote a safer society. He looks forward to learning from leading scholars in the field and contributing his own research and policy experience to the academic community and beyond.
