Aanyaa Manas

My name is Aanyaa and I recently graduated with a B.A. (Honours) in Sociology from the University of Delhi, India. In my first year, I ranked second across the university and have been awarded the College Award by the Chief Minister of Delhi and the Principal. During my undergraduate years, I developed a strong interest in gender and digital violence, especially how Indian women experience cyberstalking and forms of violence that often go unaddressed. I have explored these questions through research and internships, trying to understand how dimensions of identity intersect in everyday life. My work often sits at the intersection of sociology and criminology, but it’s always grounded in people’s experiences. Outside of academics, I enjoy photography, baking, and travelling. I’m excited to be part of the University of Pennsylvania's  Criminology program because it offers the space and resources to dive deeper into these issues.
