I am Paige O'Brien, and I am pursuing my master's degree at the University of Pennsylvania as a member of the Criminology Program. In this most recent Spring of 2024, I completed my undergraduate degree at Castleton University, now known as Vermont State University, where I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Forensic Psychology with a minor in statistics. In my time at Castleton, my internship was completed with the Department of Children and Families in the Rutland County where I acted as a human services case aide. This experience provided me with further insight that I wanted to work with diverse populations on the effects of crime. Alongside this internship, I was also a member of the Ronald E. McNair Scholarship program where I partook in individual research over a 6-week period under a faculty mentor at the university. In this statistical analysis of the effects of crime on a population, I discovered my drive to explain these crime affects via statistical analysis and quantitative reasoning. These personal experiences in my undergraduate years have encouraged me to further pursue a criminology master's degree.
Outside of the scholarly pursuits of my collegiate experience, I additionally enjoyed playing basketball for the university and indulging in tons of skiing! I am very interested in all outdoor activities; especially with my new puppy who has additionally influenced all of my spare time!
