My name is Lavanya Gopalakrishnamuralidharan and I am from India. I attended CHRIST University, Bangalore for my undergraduate degree where I majored in Psychology. I graduated in the SUmmer of 2023 and took a gap year, during which I was involved with a few organisations, including a special education school and an alcohol and drug rehabilitation centre. I have always been fascinated by Criminology and Forensic Psychology, but working at the rehab centre kindled an inclination towards prison reform, since I came to understand the terrible state of prisons in India and across the world. I aspire to reform prison systems to become better conduits for correction and adjustment, and tackle problems such as understaffing in prisons. I love to read and cook and have been a dancer for most of my life. I am incredibly excited to be a part of this program and for all the opportunities ahead.
