Mckayla Hyman is a Master’s student in the Department of Criminology. She graduated with Distinction in three years from the University of Virginia where she majored in Psychology and minored in Sociology. During Mckayla’s time at university, she was involved in an array of on and off campus activities, including volunteering at the Arc of Piedmont, a day center for individuals with intellectual disabilities as well as worked in a research lab studying the effects of child birth on relationship satisfaction. Through her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, Mckayla got involved in working with agencies that aided domestic violence victims. She interned at Beacon of Hope in Indianapolis in the summer of 2023. In Mckayla’s free time, she was involved in cheer, rock climbing, and the ski team.
