Gabrielle Crain

Gabrielle Crain is pursuing her Master's in Criminology at the University of Pennsylvania. In March of 2024 Gabrielle completed her Bachelor's of Psychology at Drexel University with minors in Criminal Justice and Science, Technology, & Society. During her undergraduate career Gabrielle completed an internship with Alva, Foster, and Moscow, a criminal defense firm in Philadelphia where she worked on drafting PCRAs and commutations for clients facing incarceration. Here she was able to gain valuable experience and passion for working with those trapped within the criminal justice system. Gabrielle also participated in study abroad experiences in Scandinavia where she was able to learn about harm reduction and drug policy in Denmark as well as the criminal justice systems of Sweden and Norway. These experiences allowed Gabrielle the unique opportunity to learn about how other countries handle issues of incarceration and drug addiction and reflect on how the United States can learn from these different policies. She currently acts as a Research Assistant at Drexel University where she works on a team surveying individuals incarcerated at SCI Chester to better understand the culture of the prison and how the facility can be improved. Gabrielle's interests lie greatly within better understanding the incarcerated individuals experience and how international policy can be implemented to change the system of incarceration and drug use in the United States.
