Research from Aaron Chalfin of the School of Arts & Sciences and Maxin Massenkoff of the Naval Postgraduate School found that, although rates of violent crime decreased in the U.S. early in the pandemic, the risk of robbery and assult in public places jumped by 15% to 30%. That rate has stayed elevated in the same yeaars since.
