Key Note Speaker John "Scott" Thomson
 
John "Scott" Thomson is one of today's most prominent police reform leaders, best known for his establishment and leadership of the Camden County Police Department from 2013-2019. While chief of police, Thomson launched innovative policing initiatives focused on de-escalation, technology, police-community relations, and crime prevention. He is currently Executive Director of Global Security and Corporate Governance Officer for Holtec, a large energy company that, in part, works to secure spent nuclear fuel. 
He holds an M.A. in education from Seton Hall University and a B.A. in sociology from Rutgers University. Thomson has received the Gary P. Hayes Memorial Award from the Police Executive Research Forum for innovation and leadership in policing and the H. Norman Schwarzkopf Award for Policing Excellence from the New Jersey Public Safety Accreditation Coalition. He was the elected President of the Police Executive Research Forum, a national independent research organization that focuses on critical issues in policing. In 2019 the Camden police headquarters was renamed the "Chief J. Scott Thomson Camden County Police Administration Building."
